Is Torah for Today? Law, Grace, and the Narrow Path
Some say “we’re not under the law,” others say “keep every command or you’re lost.” This post clarifies Torah, grace, and the narrow path in YAHUSHA—beyond legalism and lawlessness, with a Hebraic lens.
Is Torah for Today? Law, Grace, and the Narrow Path
You’ve heard: “We’re not under the law, we’re under grace.” That’s true—and also often misused. Torah was never a ladder to climb into Shamayim. Torah is YAHUAH’s instruction for a set-apart people. And grace was never permission to ignore the King’s standards. Grace rescues and empowers. The remnant doesn’t run back to dead legalism—and we don’t celebrate lawlessness either. We walk the narrow path in YAHUSHA.
What Torah Is (and What It Is Not)
Torah is:
- instruction (teaching), not just “law”
- covenant guidance
- YAHUAH’s standards of holiness, justice, mercy, and love
Torah is not:
- a self-salvation plan
- a way to boast in the flesh
- a replacement for YAHUSHA
YAHUSHA fulfills Torah—He does not cancel it.
Grace Doesn’t Erase the Standard
Grace:
- saves us from the penalty of sin
- empowers obedience
- covers growth while we mature
Grace does not mean:
- sin is now “no big deal”
- YAHUAH dropped His definition of righteousness
If the RUACH is in you, He won’t lead you against the Word He breathed.
How We Relate to Torah in YAHUSHA
- We are not justified by Torah-keeping.
- We are called to honor YAHUAH’s ways as sons and daughters.
- We read the whole Word through Mashiach—not through tradition that treats “Old Testament” like expired truth.
We don’t run back to dead legalism. We also don’t celebrate lawlessness.
The Narrow Path: Avoid Both Ditches
On one side: Legalism — trying to earn what only YAHUSHA gives. On the other: Lawlessness — throwing out what YAHUAH commanded.
The remnant walks the narrow path:
- saved by favor
- empowered by the RUACH
- honoring Torah as the King’s instruction
- following YAHUSHA as the Living Word
No more “law vs grace” cage match. In covenant, both are understood in Him.
FAQ: Quick Clarity
“Do I have to keep Torah to be saved?”
No. Salvation is by YAHUAH’s mercy through YAHUSHA. Obedience is the fruit of a redeemed life—not the purchase price.“Is Torah ‘bondage’?”
Sin is bondage. Torah is instruction that reveals what holiness looks like.“So what do I do next?”
Start where you are. Ask the RUACH to teach you. Obey what you understand, and keep growing.Continue Reading
